Meet the people who manage our dedicated team of translators:

AL PALACIOS,​ M.Sc

Head of Translation for Humanities

 

Al was awarded a degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Critical Studies from the UCM, Madrid and the HFBK, Hamburg, with MFA courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). He was mentored by filmmakers including Wim Wenders and Carlos Saura. Al is also a former University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Fulbright scholar and is currently a Doctoral Researcher in Communication & Cinema Studies

Al has researched educational communication through new TV formats with the NGO ParaguayEduca, while conducting painting workshops for under-privileged children at the Museum del Barro, Asunción.

He was also an associate professor at the University of Technology and Digital Arts, Madrid, and is a current researcher at the think-tank DS-LA, which studies the relationship between visual arts, film aesthetics and new creative technologies. Al has lectured on painting, cinema and images and theory in locations including Latvia, as well as “Strategies for the construction of fiction and fantasy in contemporary art”, “The synergy between visual arts and FX film techniques”, “Pre-Production digital strategies in contemporary painting” (Estonia, 2012) and “Parergon digital ” (Spain).  He also designed and scripted a TEDx talk, “A Curious Picture” at the US Capitol. Recently, he was a member of the art crew for Hollywood actor Jared Leto and his band’s summer event in Malibu. 

Al has been a member of the art section of the French Academy of Arts and Sciences in Spain (Casa Velazquez) since 2012.

ESTHER  SEVILLA, MSc

Head of Translation for Sciences

Esther graduated as an architect from Madrid Polytechnic University.  She has designed spaces ranging from homes to workplaces through event stands. She has also designed publications: from books and brochures to posters. Esther has worked in quality control on various architecture and construction projects . In recent years, she has also worked as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language for students of all levels, including complete beginners. In this role, she became familiar with the difficulties of learning Spanish faced by students from different cultures and origins. Esther loves the Spanish language and the wealth of its different variants. She also loves seeing things done well.
